Another dish you should definitely try in Cyprus is souvlaki, a skewer of grilled chicken, pork or lamb with fresh tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce. A vegan alternative is the koupepia, a kind of stuffed vine leaf with a filling of rice, vegetables and fresh herbs.

Lastly, there are loukoumades, a Cypriot dessert that are fried yeast dough balls with cinnamon and honey. These sweet little balls are a treat both hot and cold and are often offered at festivals and summer markets.

Overall, Cypriot cuisine offers diverse flavors and a mix of influences from Greek, Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine. When you visit Cyprus, be sure to try the various specialties and enjoy the unique culture and hospitality of the island.
