Viticulture in Cyprus has a long tradition. The island can be proud, because here is still pressed the oldest wine in the world: the Commandaria – once known the “wine of kings” of King Richard the Lionheart. Special excursions to the Cypriot wine villages offer visitors insights into the art of winemaking in a beautiful landscape with tasting of fine wines. The wine villages of Cyprus are found in the Krasochoria region north of Limassol and south of the Troodos Mountains. The locals live here from viticulture, which is still produced in the traditional way here on the island. They can be reached from Lemesos-Paphos as well as via Lemesos-Platres.
